∙ Cold process soap is a traditional soap making method that involves combining fats and/or oils with a lye solution at room temperature to create soap, glycerin and water. The combination of fat and lye causes a chemical reaction called saponification; which can take up to 48 hours. Cold process soap needs to cure 4-6 weeks before use. During curing water evaporates making the soap harder and more gentle on the skin.
